The Magill DOJO will be training with a guest Instructor,Nick Malbon, on Wednesday 19th November 2008, from 7.15pm
Nick Malbon, a Wado Ryu practitioner who trained in England with the successor to the style's founder, Professor Tatsuo Suzuki 8th Dan Hanshi, has generously agreed to be the visiting instructor for the class at the Magill DOJO on; Wednesday 19th of November, from 7.15pm Early this year, Nick instructed Dai Sempai Adrian's Seacliff students with a very spirited, interesting presentation of elements of his style. At that visit, while demonstrating the techniques and combinations, Nick introduced us to the Japanese terms used to describe the movements. In addition to an introduction to the basic punching and kicking techniques of Wado Ryu, Nick taught four different Sanbon Gumite (i.e. 3 step sparring) routines as well as four of a group of ten Kihon Gumite (i.e. basic sparring) combination routines emphasising block and counter attack routines. Nick also presented two of the many Wado Ryu Kata, being Nai Hanchi (similar to our Nahanchin) and Kushanku, which was devised in China in about 1750. The training session will be held as part of the normal Magill DOJO class on the Wednesday, and is free to all Hudson DOJOs members (Magill, Croydon, Vale Park, Seacliff and Greenacres). The class is for members training in the adults class only.
Other Golden Knights members may attend, however, there is a $5 charge and bookings are essential. Please contact Renshi Anthony to make a booking. Anyone attending the class will need to have a set of decent protectors. |
