With the Golden Knights, different levels of student and different levels of instructor can have different coloured uniforms.

When a student meets the necessary requirements, they can be promoted to the next level of uniform.

The instructor uniforms denote the individuals teaching ability and are not linked to their rank (belt). 

 

UniformTeaching Title
Grey Gi

This is the uniform for all coloured belt students.
Black Gi

Worn by students who are of the rank Shodan or above.

Also awarded to brown belts who show higher levels of strength and determination, upon successfully passing a "Black Gi Grading".
Sempai
(Instructor)


A black Gi, with a 25mm stripe down each leg of the pants, and red piping on the lapel of the coat.
Dai Sempai
(Advanced Instructor)


A black Gi, with two 25mm stripes down each leg of the pants, red piping on the lapel of the coat, and red sleeves.
Sensei
(Teacher)


A solid read coat and black pants with three 25mm red stripes down each leg.

Note: Instructors of the title Sensei or above are permitted to wear any style or colour of uniform while training in the DOJO (NOT at gradings), provided it is not one shown below.
Renshi
(Lower Master)


A red coat with white sleeves, black pants with two 10mm red stripes on either side (5mm gap) of a 40mm white stripe, down each leg.
Shihan
(Upper Master)


A white coat with red sleeves, black pants with two 10mm white stripes on either side (5mm gap) of a 40mm red stripe, down each leg.
Hanshi
(Chief Grand Professor)


Kancho
(Upper Professor)


Kyoshi
(Lower Professor)


A solid white Gi.
